CAPITOL HILL RD RECONSTRUCTION IS AWARD WINNING!

STATE AWARD presented for Best County Road.

A presentation was made in Commissioners Court for an award that was given to Texas Materials Group / Gulf Coast for the honor they received distinguishing the road reconstruction work they did for Precinct 2. A few weeks ago, the Texas Quality Asphalt Pavement Association (TXAPA) awards recognized the best-built county asphalt pavement project in the state.

Capitol Hill Rd was the entry of record.

Texas Materials Group Gulf Coast, selected by Precinct 2 to perform the road work, received the award.

Capitol Hill Rd is 1.1 miles and it was reconstructed with an 8” black base and a 2” Type D surface mix.

The work on Capitol Hill Rd was completed in September of 2025.

The project delivered an outstanding ride quality and a clean uniform appearance throughout.

The judging group recognized Capitol Hill Rd for the exceptionally smooth ride, consistent texture, well-constructed joints and edges and seamless transitions on and off the road.

Congratulations to Texas Materials Group / Gulf Coast for earning the TXAPA Asphalt Pavement award in the Best County Road category.
